Inviting the World to Wiesbaden
International May Festival
Singers, actors, directors, dancers, musicians and choreographers from all over the world will once again visit Wiesbaden from 30 April to 31 May 2018. Founded in 1896 as "Kaiserfestspiele" (Imperial Festival) by Georg von Hülsen, the International May Festival ranks as the second-largest theatre festival in Germany, after the Bayreuth Festival. The Festival closed for the duration of World War I and was re-established in its present form in 1950, with a strong focus on international exposure.
The 2018 Festival operatic programme showcases no fewer than seven of the Wiesbaden State Theatre's own productions, each with a cast specially selected for the Festival.
Bookings for the following Opera Gala performances have already opened:
Tickets for all other productions will go on sale in February 2018, when the entire Festival programme (including ballet, drama, concerts and children's productions) is also unveiled.
