Birds of a Kind
By Wajdi Mouawad
Performed in German

When the young biogeneticist Eitan falls in love with doctoral student Wahida, he sees the world through rose-coloured glasses. And why not? But when the time comes to introduce Wahida to his Jewish parents, things become difficult. Wahida is an Arab. Following in his family's footsteps, the young couple travels to Israel, where Eitan wrestles a well-kept family secret from his grandmother, and Wahida embraces her long-denied Arab identity. Then, as if all these challenges were not enough, a car bomb finally destroys all assurances around religion, culture and identity.
