One has one body and one soul, correct? But how are they joined together? To what extent do they influence each other and can they be viewed independently? How does consciousness arise and can the spirit exist independently from the brain? Is the soul autonomous? These are some of the questions and themes addressed in "The Hard Problem".

Sir Tom Stoppard (* 1937) is considered one of the world's most important playwrights. His works are distinguished by its multi-layer complex dramaturgy and airy language. In addition to numerous stage plays (such as "Rosenkranz and Güldenstern are Dead" and "Arcadia"), he has also written several screenplays (amongst others "Anna Karenina"). He received an Oscar for his screenplay "Shakespeare in Love".
