2016 International May Festival Programme Revealed

In her opening address at the press conference to announce this year’s festival programme, Rose-Lore Scholz, the City of Wiesbaden’s Head of Cultural Affairs, referred to the International May Festival as “the most important festival on our annual calendar”. Following the success of last year’s event, she was looking forward to the second edition under the directorship of Intendant Uwe Eric Laufenberg, she said. Albert Zetzsche, theatre advisor to the Ministry for Art and Science, also wished the Intendant every success, bringing greetings from the Minister of Culture, Boris Rhein.
The Baroque opera “Dido and Aeneas” marks the first cooperation between the International May Festival and the Rheingau Music Festival. Intendant and General Manager Michael Hermann was there to say a few words and give his thanks for the forthcoming cooperation.

Uwe Eric Laufenberg revealed to all in attendance an exciting, varied programme, featuring world-renowned singers, celebrated drama ensembles, first-rate dance companies and no less than 50 performances.
