David Bruwer

Assistant Director
David Bruwer was born in South Africa and studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he graduated with a first-class Master's degree in 2007. Since making his performance debut in South Africa at the age of 15, he has appeared in his home country and internationally as recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist. In London, his concert project "Duty, Devotion & Desire", a juxtaposition of Schumann's "Frauenliebe und Leben" with the little-known song cycle "Haya Mntwan’ Omkhulu!" ("Sing, Princess!") by the mysterious South African Zulu princess Constance Magogo, attracted special attention. Upon completing his piano studies David Bruwer increasingly focused on music management, concert production and project planning in an international artist agency in Cape Town. He moved to Wiesbaden in 2014 and has since worked at the State Theatre in the Marketing/PR department, and as Assistant Director for productions such as "Katya Kabanova", "La forza del destino" and "Madama Butterfly" (2015/16), as well as "Die Zauberflöte", "La Bohème", " Peter Grimes", "Le nozze di Figaro", "Die Frau ohne Schatten" and "Es begab sich aber zu der Zeit" (2016/17). Productions for the 2017/18 season include "Schönerland", "La Bohème", "Hänsel und Gretel", "Arabella" and "Katja Kabanowa".
