Željko Lučić

Željko Lučić was born in Serbia and studied singing in Belgrade and Novi Sad. First engagements include the Serbian National Theatre in 1993 and Frankfurt Opera, where he began his career in 1998 in the title role of "Simon Boccanegra". One of the leading Vedi singers of our time, his repertoire includes title roles in "Macbeth", "Rigoletto" and "Nabucco", as well as Giorgio Germont ("La traviata"), Iago ("Otello"), Scarpia ("Tosca"), Count René Ankarström ("Un ballo in maschera"), Michele and Gianni Schicchi in Puccini's "Il trittico" and Gérard ("Andrea Chénier"). He has appeared in some of the world's leading opera houses, including London, New York, Munich, Dresden, Berlin (Deutsche Oper), Vienna, Pari (Opéra National) and Chicago. In 1997 he won First Prize in the Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest in Barcelona.

Željko Lučić will grace the Wiesbaden stage at the 2023 International May Festival in the title roles of "Rigoletto" and "Nabucco".
