Catherine Foster

Soprano
A former midwife, British soprano Catherine Foster studied singing in London. Since 2006, she has sung dramatic roles such the Empress (“Die Frau ohne Schatten”), Senta (“Der fliegende Holländer”) and Leonore (“Fidelio”) in Dresden. Following her 2007 debut as Brünnhilde in Weimar, she has performed this heralded role at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, in Hamburg, Barcelona, Helsinki, Budapest and Tokio, amongst others. In 2013 she made her Bayreuth debut in the same role. She has also celebrated great success as Elektra, a role which she has sung in Cologne, Mannheim, Copenhagen, Berlin (Deutsche Oper) and Wiesbaden (2015/16). This season, she returns to Wiesbaden as Brünnhilde in "Götterdämmerung" and will also appear in the Wagner Gala Concert (2017 International may Festival).
