Many events are quite different in our memories than they are in the actual moment. Pierre Boulez's "very quiet, very restrained" piece "Mémoriale (… explosante-fixe… Originel)" for flute reclaims the independence of memory for itself. Initially conceived as a memorial to Stravinsky, the piece itself does not reflect the musical influence of its dedicatee. It is also an interesting counterpoint to Beethoven's 3rd Symphony. The "Eroica", initially dedicated to Napoleon, questions Bonaparte's heroism through the later disillusioned withdrawal of the dedication.

Christopher Park returns to his roots as soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto, KV. 453. Park, winner of the Leonard Bernstein Award and one of the "Rising Stars" of the European Concert Hall Organisation, was born and raised in the Taunus region and studied in Frankfurt. Canadian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson, who bravely jumped in at short notice for a symphony concert in 2017, now returns to the podium to open the Wiesbaden Symphony concert season.
