Naked bodies, sex and bare genitalia are available online anytime. No onehas to go into a porn cinema for that anymore. At the same time, the deeply privatehas become a valuable commodity, which social media and every carefullymanufactured self-image exploits. Where’s the boundary? Which form of exhibitionis too much for us? The performativeporn cinema in the basement of the Repurposed Theatre will show work by a younggeneration of artists turning the exhibition of their bodies, their mostintimate desires, needs and fears into their aesthetic working method. Fouralternating solo pieces of performance and video art by Katy Baird, RosanaCade, Kim Noble and Samira Elagoz will be shown there. During the day, a loopof various video pieces will play and on Saturday, 25th August, porn enthusiastand co-founder of the sexpositive Wonderlust festival in Helsinki, EvaNeklyaeva, invites you to spend a leisurely afternoon with a laid-back programmeof awesome porn, candid talks and crunchy popcorn. The performative porn cinemawill present moving, intense and very personal works that challenge theaudience to take a position. Moving between precarity in working life, sex workand making art, a poetic self-experiment on film and the struggle against one’sown loneliness, they show self-empowerment and self-exploitation at the sametime. Through the power of ruthless honesty and the desperation of beingexposed, the performative porn cinema creates a theatre of the radicalconsumption of everything private, which turns out to be surprisinglyliberating.
