Joel Scott

Australian tenor Joel Scott won the 2016 German Australian Opera Grant Competition in Melbourne. Founded in 2003 by ex-Wiesbadener Hans Henkell, the grant allows promising young Australian singers to spend a year at the Wiesbaden State Theatre. Joel Scott studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he sang roles such as Don Basilio in "Le nozze di Figaro" and Monsieur Vogelsang in "Der Schauspieldirektor". As member of the Opera Australia Operatic Chorus, he performed in numerous productions, such as "Turandot", "Simon Boccanegra", "Luisa Miller", "Carmen", "Don Carlos" and "Madama Butterfly". Previous roles in Wiesbaden include Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte", Flavio in "Norma", Kudrjasch in "Katja Kabanowa", Steuermann in "Der fliegende Holländer", Rodrigo in "Otello", Heinrich der Schreiber in "Tannhäuser" and Annas in "Jesus Christ Superstar". This season, he returns as Brother in "The Seven Deadly Sins", Heinrich der Schreiber and Tamino ("Zauberflöte für Kinder").
