The Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. on 16 October 1894, the grand opening of the Großes Haus took place in the presence of Emperor Wilhelm II. Since then, the magnificent building – which remains one of most elaborate theatres of its time – has been at the very core of Wiesbaden's cultural heritage. Even back in the day, the "Emperor's favourite theatre" attracted many visitors. Today, the theatre sees an average of 300,000 visitors enjoying around 1,000 performance on its four stages every season.

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary, the theatre's five performance divisions present a festive programme in celebration of this historical event.
