Slovenian soprano Sabina Cvilak studied in Graz and made her debut at the Hamburg State Opera as Liù in “Turandot” in 2003. From 2004 she sang various lyric roles at the Vienna State Opera, in productions such as “Die Zauberflöte”, “L'elisir d'amore”, “Rigoletto”, “Parsifal” and the “Ring” cycle. She made her debut at the Washington National Opera in 2007 as Mimì in “La Bohème”, followed by engagements as Micaëla in “Carmen” and Liù. She has guested in Cologne, Hamburg, Bologna, Malmö, Helsinki, Hong Kong, and at the festivals in Aix-en-Provence, Savonlinna and Vienna. She has also sung Desdemona ("Otello") in Palm Beach, as well as Marie ("Die verkaufte Braut") in Valencia. She made her Wiesbaden debut in 2015/16 in the title role of "Katya Kabanova"and has since graced the stage in various roles, including Gutrune in "Götterdämmerung", Sieglinde in "Die Walküre", Mimì in "La Bohème", Elisabeth in "Tannhäuser", as well as the title roles in "Arabella" and "Jenufa". This season, she returns to Wiesbaden in the new production "Gräfin Mariza".
