His career as opera conductor began in Zurich and Lucerne. He made his debut at Berlin's Komische Oper in 2007 with "Le nozze di Figaro", where he became first Kapellmeister in 2008 and Principal Conductor in 2010. In the same year, he made his debut at the Vienna State Opera, where he still appears as regular guest. Further engagements have taken him to the Semperoper Dresden, London's Covent Garden, the Hamburg State Opera, Opera Australia in Sydney, the Bavarian State Opera, the Zurich Opera House, the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, Korean National Opera in Seoul, the Stuttgart State Opera and Opera Frankfurt. He made his greatly acclaimed debut at Opéra national de Paris with Mahler's "Lied von der Erde", choreographed by John Neumeier.
