Kammersänger Thomas de Vries has held permanent appointments in Cottbus, Oldenburg, Dortmund and Wiesbaden, performing roles such as Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Germont ("La traviata"), Bartolo ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Kurnewal ("Tristan und Isolde") and Telramund ("Lohengrin"). Guest engagements have taken him to the Komische Oper Berlin, Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Heidelberg and Cagliari, Italy, amongst others. He is the director of Ensemble Mattiacis, which performs annually at the International May Festival in Wiesbaden. Since 2015, his roles in Wiesbaden have included Telramund (tour to South Korea), Rangoni ("Boris Godunov"), Don Carlos ("La forza del destino"), Alberich ("Das Rheingold", "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung"), Messenger of Keikobad ("Die Frau ohne Schatten"), Peter the Broom-maker ("Hänsel und Gretel"), Balstrode ("Peter Grimes"), Count Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Biterolf ("Tannhäuser"), the Indendant in Søren Nils Eichberg's new opera "Schönerland" and Don Alfonso ("Così fan tutte"). This season, he will reprise his roles as Peter the broom-maker and Biterolf, and will additionally make his debut as Beckmesser in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", as well as gracing the stage as Count Monterone and Jochannaan in the new productions of "Rigoletto" and "Salome".
