Maximilian Mayer

Maximilian Mayer was born in Regensburg. After graduating from the High School of the Regensburger Domspatzen, he began vocal studies with Peter Edelmann at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, graduating with distinction in 2016. During his student years, he appeared in roles such as Dr. Blind, Alfred and Gabriel von Eisenstein in "Die Fledermaus", as well as Ferrando in "Così fan tutte" and Rinuccio in "Gianni Schicchi" at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna.

Further engagements have taken him to Stadttheater Baden, to the Operklosterneuburg Festival (most recently as Beppo in "Pagliacci"), as well as the Seefestspiele Mörbisch, where he sang Graf Stanislaus in "Der Vogelhändler" in 2017. In September 2015 he won first prize in the category "Musical - Operetta - Viennese Song" at the Heinrich-Strecker Cross Over Competition, as well as the audience prize and special prize for the best interpretation of a Viennese song. In June 2017, he was awarded 1st prize in the MUT Competition at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where he has been a member of the theatre's permanent ensemble since 2016/17. Here, his roles have included Camille de Rosillon ("The Merry Widow"), Witch ("Hansel und Gretel") and Tamino ("Die Zauberlöte"). He will be performing in the latter role at the Wiesbaden State Theatre during the 2019/20 season.
