Maria José Siri
The Uruguayan soprano María José Siri first studied in Montevideo and later at the Paris Conservatoire, in Nizza and Vienna with Ileana Cotrubas. Following first engagements in South America, she made her debut in 2008 at many of the most important international opera houses and festivals. Notable appearances include La Scala in Milan (as "Aida" and "Madama Butterfly"), the Vienna State Opera (the title role in "Tosca" and Maddalena in "Andrea Chénier"), the Berlin State Opera (in "Eugene Onegin" and "Tosca"), the Deutsche Oper Berlin ("Tosca"), the Liceu Barcelona (Mimì in "La Bohème"), La Monnaie in Brussels (Amelia in "Un ballo in maschera"), as well as the Arena di Verona ("Aida"). This season, she graces the Wiesbaden stage at the 2019 International May Festival as Amelia in "Un ballo in maschera".
