Austrian tenor Andreas Schager quickly established himself as a leading Heldentenor. Following permanent engagements in Krefeld/Mönchengladbach he guested in roles such as Tamino (“Die Zauberflöte”), Max (“Der Freischütz”) and Florestan (“Fidelio”) in Cologne, Bologna, Gent and at the Royal Opera in Canada. He made his La Scala debut in 2013 as Siegfried (“Götterdämmerung”) under Daniel Barenboim and sang the title roles in “Tristan und Isolde”, “Parsifal” and “Tannhäuser” at the Berlin State Opera and Deutsche Oper, in Hamburg, Madrid and Antwerp. Previous appearances in Wiesbaden include Erik ("Der fliegende Holländer") at the International May Festival. This season, he returns as Siegfried in Wagner's Ring Cycle.
