Margarete Joswig

Mezzo-soprano
Margarete Joswig studied in Frankfurt and was an ensemble member of the State Opera companies of Saarbrücken and Stuttgart between 1994 and 2003. She has performed in Palermo, Rome, Naples (Walküre in the “Ring” cycle), at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris (with Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde”), the Rheingau Music Festival (Verdi’s Requiem) and the Art Festival in Weimar (Eisler’s “German Symphony”), amongst others. In 2003 she sang Flosshilde in the “Ring” cycle at Stuttgart State Opera, a production which was broadcast live on television. During the 2015/16 season, she performed the Mother in "Hänsel und Gretel" and Fricka in Wagner's Ring Cycle. This season, she returns as Waltraute and First Norn in "Götterdämmerung".
