Kammersänger Thomas de Vries has held permanent appointments in Cottbus, Oldenburg, Dortmund and Wiesbaden, performing roles such as Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Germont ("La traviata"), Bartolo ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Kurnewal ("Tristan und Isolde") and Telramund ("Lohengrin"). He has guested at the Komische Oper in Berlin, in Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Heidelberg and Cagliari, Italy, amongst others. He is the director of Ensemble Mattiacis, which performs annually at the International May Festival in Wiesbaden. During the 2015/16 Wiesbaden season, he sang Telramund (tour to South Korea), Rangoni in "Boris Godunov" and Don Carlos in "La forza del destino". In 2016/17 he appeared in the roles of Alberich (Wagner's "Ring" Cycle), Balstrode in "Peter Grimes", Peter the broom-maker in "Hänsel und Gretel", Scarpia in "Tosca", Count Almaviva in "Le nozze di Figaro" and the Messenger of Keikobad in "Die Frau ohne Schatten". Upcoming roles include Biterolf in "Tannhäuser", the Intendant in Søren Nils Eichberg's new opera "Schönerland", Don Alfonso in "Così fan tutte", Scarpia in "Tosca" and Alberich.
