Born in Belgium, Thomas Blondelle studied singing in Bruges, followed by first engagements in Luxemburg, Antwerp, Braunschweig and Toulon. He has been an ensemble member at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin since 2009, singing roles such as Tamino (“Die Zauberflöte”), Walther (“Tannhäuser”), Prince (“The Love for Three Oranges”), Pelléas (“Pelléas et Mélisande”), Male Chorus (“Rape of Lucretia) and Uncle/Stranger in the world premiere of Aribert Reimanns "L’Invisible". Other notable appearances include Erik (“Der fliegende Holländer”) in Strasbourg and Stuttgart, his first Drum Major (“Wozzeck”) in Glasgow and Max (“Der Freischütz”) in Stuttgart. He sang Herod ("Salome") in Luxembourg in 2016 and Belmonte at the Oper Frankfurt in 2017. Previous performances in Wiesbaden include title roles in "Der Graf von Luxemburg", "Candide", "Idomeneo" and "La clemenza di Tito", as well as Erik, Loge, Belmonte, Lenski, Don José ("Carmen") an Matteo ("Arabella"). Recent and current roles in Wiesbaden include Danilo in "Die lustige Witwe" as well as Max in Carl Maria von Weber's "Der Freischütz".
