For many years, self-destruction, melancholy and excess were the hallmarks of Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre's life and work. The soundtrack of his journey from morality into the arms of excess is provided by the songs of Udo Lindenberg, later his friend and saviour.

"At first glance, what the Berliner Ensemble dishes up here is rousing, witty, shocking and crazy. However, on closer inspection, the staging is also a quiet and intimate behind-the-scenes look into the mind of a person who has lost his way in the world."
