Der kleine Prinz
The Little Prince
A fairytale for big & small, based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Performed in German, in an adaptation by Roberto Ciulli & Maria Neumann
“The Little Prince”, a fairytale story by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is one of the most famous books in the world. It was published in 1943 in New York and has since been translated into 180 languages, making it the most translated book after the Bible and the Koran. People the world over are fascinated by the little character with the innate ability to open up new dimensions to aspects of “being”: friendship, love, human relationships, and the meaning and end of life.
Roberto Ciulli and Maria Neumann’s adaptation places emphasis on a meeting of young and old. “Saint-Exupéry’s child is in fact a profoundly wise being who, like Socrates in confrontation with the sophists, has the ability to ask the really simple, yet profound questions.”
