Just like Robinson, Kai longs to escape the desolation of his narrow-minded family home. But instead of chartering a boat on the South Sea, he applies to feature on the first reality show in Germany. He wins the casting and soon, just like it was for Robinson, a lonely fight for survival begins on an island. After initially receiving a good response from the viewing audience, the show's ratings begin to drop drastically and the broadcast is cancelled. Kai is quickly forgotten by the world and left behind on the island. Twenty-eight years later, Gustav Freitag, an up-and-coming television maker, discovers the old tapes of "Inselmensch – Sei Crusoe" in the archives and turns Kai's rescue into a huge news story. Now finally rich and famous, the media attention soon becomes too much for Kai and he flees back to his island. The only problem is that it has since been turned into an all-inclusive holiday paradise! Experience the story of the loneliest hero in literary history as a delightful media satire.
