During her highly successful career, Doris Soffel set new standards in roles such as Carmen, Cenerentola and Dalila. Equally comfortable in everything from bel canto to Verdi and contemporary repertoire, her interpretations of Wagner and Strauss are legendary.
Her lieder recital programme ranges from splendid Fin de Siècle grandeur by Mahler, Sibelius and Strauss to the Broadway decadence of the twenties and thirties, with songs by Kurt Weill. An interesting highlight is Poulenc's monologue »La dame de Monte Carlo«.
She is accompanied by Manuel Lange, award-winning pianist and professor of song interpretation at the Detmold Academy of Music.
