In “The Sacrifice”, the final film by Soviet filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky, an apocalyptic catastrophe breaks out Alexander’s birthday.
 
Together with family and friends, the former actor is celebrating his birthday at his house on the coast. It is a beautiful day, until on the radio the news breaks of a disaster that threatens the whole world. In despair, Alexander bargains with God, offering himself as sacrifice. In the process, he destroys everything he holds dear.
