Rouwen Huther

After receiving his musical education at the Wiesbaden Music Academy, the Karlsruhe College of Music and in master classes with Hilde Zadek, Julia Varady and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Rouwen Huther made his first appearances at the International May Festival in Wiesbaden and at the International Opera Academy in Bad Orb. This was followed by engagements at international opera houses and festivals, including the Staatstoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Oper Leipzig, Teatro San Carlo Napoli, Teatro Comunale Bolzano, Teatro Comunale Piacenza, Teatro di Dante Aligheri Ravenna, Teatro di Luciano Pavarotti Modena, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the Vienna Festival, AUDI Summer Concerts in Ingolstadt, the International Music Festival in Classionata, and the Verbier Festival.

He has enjoyed great success in roles such as Flute in Britten's "A Midsummer Night’s Dream", Doctor in Eötvös' "Tri Sestri", Gingerbread Witch in "Hänsel und Gretel", Prince in Prokofiev's "The Love for Three Oranges", Schweiker von Gundelfingen in Strauss's "Feuersnot" and as First Jew in "Salome" at the Verbier Festival and Oper Leipzig. He has worked with conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Julien Salemkour, Ulf Schirmer, as well as directors such as András Fricsay, Rosamund Gilmore, David Mouchtar-Samorai, Manfred Schweigkofler and orchestras including the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Münchner Rundfunkorchester and the Staatskapelle Berlin.

This season, Rouwen Huther takes the Wiesbaden stage in three new productions: as Balthasar Zorn in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", First Jew in "Salome" and as High Priest in Mozart's "Idomeneo". In addition, the versatile singer will also take on an acting role, as Thomas Diafoirus in the play "Der eingebildete Kranke".
