Jacqueline Macaulay

Jacqueline Macaulay hails from Scotland and was born in England (Doncaster). She grew up speaking several languages in England/Scotland (until 1973) and Holland (1973 to 1986), passing her A-levels in the Netherlands in 1985. She has lived in Germany since 1986, where she completed her acting training at Stuttgart's University of Music and Performing Arts from 1986 to 1990. Subsequent theatre engagements took her to the Stadttheater Luzern, Schauspiel Bonn, Schauspielhaus Zürich, the Théâtre National du Luxembourg, the Deutsches Theater Berlin and finally the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, where she worked as a permanent ensemble member until 2006.

She has worked as a freelancer since 2006, with appearances at the Hans-Otto-Theater Potsdam, Staatstheater Dresden, the Berliner Ensemble, Staatsschauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Deutsches Theater Berlin, and since 2007 repeatedly at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and the Théâtre National du Luxembourg. Since 2013, she has also regularly performed in musical productions (such as "Cabaret") at the Bar jeder Vernunft and the Tipi am Kanzleramt in Berlin. In 2017, she and the ensemble won the audience award for the Show of the Year with the musical "Sayonara Tokyo" at the Wintergarten Berlin. She was voted Best Young Actress in NWR for her portrayal of Luise in Schiller's "Kabale und Liebe", directed by Andras Fricsay, and just one year later was named Young Actress of the Year by Theaterheute for her double role in "Oleanna/Musik", directed by Harald Clemen. In 1996 the production "Der grosse Knall", directed by David Mouchtar-Samourai, was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen; at the NRW Theatertreffen she was honoured with the Ensemble Prize.

She received the 2nd INTHEGA Prize ("Die Neuberin") in 2019 for the touring production "Heilig Abend" by Daniel Kehlmann. Recent and current engagement include the plays "King Lear", "Happy End" and "Das Halsband" at the Renaissance Theater Berlin. Parallel to her stage work, she also acts in various film, television and radio play productions.

Previous engagements in Wiesbaden include the role of Sherri Rosen-Mason in the German-language premiere of "Admissions". This season, she returns to grace the stage as Phyllis in a new production of Stephen Sondheim's musical "Follies".
