Katharina Gerschler

Born in Essen in 1969, Katharina Gerschler studied German and English literature in Bonn and St. Andrews, simultaneously working at Schauspiel Bonn and the “Neue Stücke aus Europa” festival in Wiesbaden. From 1997 to 2001 she worked as dramaturg for the theatre publishing house Hunzinger Bühnenverlag, and from 2001 to 2006 at the Saarland State Theatre, where she regularly worked with directors such as Stephan Suschke. Here she was also involved in the conception of the “Autorentheatertage” festival and regularly supervised ballet evenings by Marguerite Donlon. As dramaturg (Drama department) at the State Theatre of Mainz from 2006 to 2014, she worked alongside Jan Philipp Gloger, Matthias Fontheim, Robert Borgmann, Philip Tiedemann, Johannes Schmit, Hannes Rudolph and André Rößler, amongst others. In addition, she coordinated the “Text trifft Regie“ Youth Competition, developed various supporting programme series (e.g. “hot readings”, “Poetry Dead or Alive”) and was responsible for co-operative events. Katharina Gerschler has been Dramaturg within the Hessian State Theatre of Wiesbaden’s Drama department since the start of the 2014/2015 season.
