Anna Alàs i Jové

Born in Catalonia, Spanish mezzo-soprano Anna Alàs i Jové completed her singing studies at the Hans Eisler Conservatory in Berlin. She has received prizes in numerous competitions, including 1st prize in the Joan Massià Singing Competition, 2nd prize at the International Song Contest at the Hugo-Wolf Academy in Stuttgart, and was a finalist in the Richard Strauss Singing Competition. Initially, she specialised mainly in the areas of Baroque and New Music. Her operatic roles include Donna Elvira ("Don Giovanni"), Rosina ("Il Barbiere di Siviglia"), Diana ("La Calisto") and L’Enfant ("L’Enfant et les sortilèges"). Recent engagements include Proserpina/La Messagiera ("L’Orfeo" in Bilbao), Dido in "Dido and Aeneas" (Pamplona), Wellgunde ("Götterdämmerung" in Barcelona), as well as Kater in "Der gestiefelte Kater" and the title role in a new production "Simplicius Simplicissimus", both at the Berlin State Opera. She recently sang Annio in "La Clemenza di Tito« at Ópera de Oviedo. Guest appearances have taken her to the Nürnberg State Theatre, Heidelberger Frühling, the Ludwigsburg Festival, the Innsbruck Festival for Early Music, as well as to the concert houses of Berlin and Karlsruhe. After making her debut during the 2017/18 season as Storgè in Handel's "Jephtha", she now returns to Wiesbaden for the new staged production of Bach's St. Matthew Passion.
