Erwin Schrott

Erwin Schrott was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, and is considered one of the most exciting exponents of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Leporello and Figaro. His career has taken him to some of the most important opera houses of the world: La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera House New York, Opéra National de Paris, Washington National Opera, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Arena di Verona and Los Angeles Opera, to name but a few. He made his debut as Leporello at the Salzburg Festival in 2008. His repertoire also includes the title role in Boito's "Mefistofele", Dulcamara in "L'élisir d'amore", Scarpia in "Tosca" and Escamillo in "Carmen", amongst others. Erwin Schrott graces the Wiesbaden stage as Don Giovanni at the 2022 International May Festival.
