Igor Bakan

Born in Lithuania, baritone Igor Bakan studied singing in Klaipėda. Here, he also made his operatic debut, singing roles such as Don Basilio ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"), Figaro ("Le nozze di Figaro") and Il Commendatore ("Don Giovanni"). Additionally, he appeared as guest in Russia and Belarus. He became a member of the Bavarian State Opera ensemble in 2008/09 and moved to the Zurich Opera Studio the season thereafter. This was followed by engagements at the Flemish Opera Ghent/Antwerp and the Edinburgh Festival. From 2012 to 2014 he was deeply involved with Theater an der Wien, performing roles such as Don Magnifico ("La Cenerentola") and Publio ("La clemenza di Tito"). He has sung Renato ("Un ballo in maschera") at Malmö Opera, a role with which he makes his Wiesbaden debut this season.
