Marco Štorman

Marco Štorman is a graduate of the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. His graduation production, "Einsame Menschen" by Gerhart Hauptmann, was invited to the Bavarian Theatre Days. He worked as assistant director at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and at the Munich Kammerspiele with Jossi Wieler, Andreas Kriegenburg, Stephan Kimmig and Christoph Schlingensief, and has held scholarships to the Meisterklasse Schauspiel at the Salzburg Festival, the Berlin Festival International Forum and the ENPARTS Open Campus in Stockholm, amongst others.

In 2004, his production of Neil LaBute's "Das Maß der Dinge" was nominated as newcomer production of the year by "Theater heute" Magazine. Marco Štorman worked as permanent assistant director at Schauspiel Hannover from 2005 to 2007, with directors such as Lars-Ole Walburg, Schorsch Kamerun and Wilfried Minks. In 2006 he founded the independent theatre group "Kulturfiliale", which was awarded the 2010 "Pro Viso" culture prize for its endeavours within the city of Hannover.

Since 2007, he has worked as freelance director at the Schauspielhaus Wien, the theatres of Oberhausen, Lübeck, and Klagenfurt, as well as Schauspiel Hannover and the Thalia Theater Hamburg, among others. He staged the world premiere of "start listening stop screaming" at the Junge Oper in Stuttgart and in 2013, his production of Elfriede Jelinek's "Winterreise" was invited to the Radikal Jung festival. In the summer of 2011, he shot his first film, "JULIAUGUST", which was subsequently invited to the 46th International Hof Film Festival and won the best medium-length film and Audience Jury Prize at the 9th "Achtung Berlin" Film Awards in 2013. In 2011, he created the urban space installation "You Take Yourself Where You Go" in Melbourne, Australia, in collaboration with the Goethe Institute, and "T.R.I.P The Reality in Pieces" in Adelaide in 2013. In recent years, he staged Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes", Richard Wagner's "Parsifal" and Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" at Theater Bremen. In 2018.2019, he directed John Adams' "Nixon in China" at the Stuttgart State Opera.

Following recent directing work for the Biennale for Contemporary Music in Munich, Schauspielhaus Wien, Staatsschauspiel Dresden and Oper Bremen, Marco Štorman makes his Wiesbaden debut in 2020.2021 with a new production of "Der Zigeunerbaron".
