Gisbert Jäkel

Stage & Costume Designer
Gisbert Jäkel has worked at the Burgtheater in Vienna, Theater Basel, as well as at the opera houses in Paris (Bastille), Brussels, Berlin and Dresden, with directors such as Hans Neuenfels, Andrea Breth, Günther Krämer and Ingo Kerkhof, amongst others. Frequent collaborations with Uwe Eric Laufenberg include Ernst Krenek’s “Karl V” in Bregenz, “Don Giovanni” in Cologne, Wagner’s “Ring” cycle in Linz, and “Parsifal” at the Bayreuth Festival. He has also directed his own productions in Graz, Bremen and Potsdam. Notable productions in Wiesbaden include the operas “Die Frau ohne Schatten”, “Orfeo ed Euridice”, "Otello", Wagner's "Ring" cycle, "Arabella", Jenufa", "Rigoletto" and "Carmen", as well as the plays "Dr. med. Hiob Prätorius", "Don Karlos" and "Die Antigone des Sophokles". During the 2020/21 season, he will design the sets for new productions of "Il barbiere di Siviglia", "Le nozze di Figaro", "Doktors Dilemma" and "Die Küste Utopias".
