Lance Ryan

Lance Ryan hails from Canada and studied with Gianni Raimondi und Carlo Bergonzi. He won the AsLico Competition in 2002 and took up a position at the Karlsruhe State Theatre in 2005. Here, he made role debuts as Siegmund ("Die Walküre"), Cavaradossi  ("Tosca"), Siegfried (Wagner's Ring Cycle), the title roles in "Otello", "Andrea Chénier" and "Lohengrin", as Kalaf ("Turandot"), the Emperor ("Die Frau ohne Schatten"), Bacchus ("Ariadne auf Naxos") and Florestan ("Fidelio"). He has guested in many Strauss and Wagner roles at the opera houses in Berlin (Deutsche Oper), Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dresden, Vienna, Amsterdam, Seville, Milan, Rome, London, New York, Florence and at the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals. He appears on DVD recordings of Wagner's Ring Cycle and "Les Troyens", both at Opera Valencia, as well as "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung" in Frankfurt. Previous appearances in Wiesbaden include the Emperor ("Die Frau ohne Schatten") at the 2015 International May Festival, the title roles in "Peter Grimes", "Tannhäuser" and "Otello", as well as Siegfried in "Götterdämmerung". This season, he returns to Wiesbaden as Tannhäuser.
