Antonello Allemandi

Antonello Allemandi was born in Milan, where he studied piano, composition and conducting at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory. He made his debut in 1987 as part of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival. He has conducted the French Philharmonic Radio Orchestra, as well as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, among others, and was principal conductor of the Orchestre Colonne in Paris from 1991 to 1996. His international career has taken him to many major opera houses around the world, including the Vienna State Opera ("La traviata", "L'elisir d'amore"), the Deutsche Oper Berlin ("Il trovatore", "Werther"), the Opéra National de Paris ("Tosca"), Milan's La Scala ("L'italiana in Algeri"), the Metropolitan Opera New York ("La Cenerentola") and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"). He has also appeared at the opera houses in Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow, Bilbao and Washington, at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and at the Salzburg Festival.
