Matthias Schaller
Head of Stage & Costume Design
Born in Schmölln (Thuringian) in 1964, Matthias Schaller began his career as stage technician at the Maxim-Gorki Theatre in Berlin, and has been active as freelance stage designer since 1994. His work has graced the stages of the State Theatres in Braunschweig and Karlsruhe, National Theatre Weimar, Maxim-Gorki Theatre Berlin, Bavarian State Theatre Munich, as well as Cologne Opera, amongst others. He worked as Head of Stage and Costume Design at the Hans Otto Theatre in Potsdam from 2007 to 2009, under the artistic directorship of Uwe Eric Laufenberg, At the start of the 2014/2015 season, he took up the same position at the Wiesbaden State Theatre, where he is involved in countless productions.
