Seungwon Choi

Korean bass Seungwon Choi was born in Seoul and studied singing at Yonsei University in his hometown. He has been a student at the University of Music and Performance Arts in Frankfurt am Main (HfMDK) since 2017 and has attended master classes with Helmut Deutsch and Claudia Eder. His repertoire includes roles such as Bartolo ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Osmin ("Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), Sarastro ("Die Zauberflöte"), Commendatore ("Don Giovanni"), Don Alfonso ("Così fan tutte"), Colline ("La Bohème"), Dulcamara ("L'elisir d'amore"), Brandon ("The Long Christmas Dinner") and the bass solo in Verdi's "Messa da Requiem". Furthermore, Choi has appeared as one of the Flemish Envoys in Verdi's "Don Carlos" at Oper Frankfurt. In 2018, he was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the International Opera Singing Competition of Marmande and received the Audience Prize at the 2019 Meistersinger Competition in Neustadt.
