American baritone Christopher Bolduc studied in New York and Philadelphia, after which guest engagements took him to some of the most important opera houses in Europe and North America. He sang Ramiro ("L'heure espagnole") at the Glyndebourne Festival, Guglielmo ("Così fan tutte"), Count Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro") and the Hunter (Heinz Holliger's "Schneewittchen") in Basel, as well as Belcore ("L'elisir d'amore") in Cologne, amongst others. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the world premiere of Nico Muhly’s “Two Boys” in 2013/14. He sang the title role in Monteverdi's "Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria" in Lausanne and debuted as Billy Budd at the Prague National Theatre during the 2017/18 season. Further guests engagements include Belcore at Theater St. Gallen, as well as Marcello ("La Bohème") at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, a role with which he also made his debut in Wiesbaden. Further role debuts here include Figaro ("Il barbiere di Siviglia") and Eugene Onegin, as well as Guglielmo, Belcore, Sharpless ("Madama Butterfly"), Papageno ("Die Zauberflöte") and Count Almaviva. During the 2017/18 season, he made his role debuts as Lescaut ("Manon"), Wolfram ("Tannhäuser") and Don Giovanni, followed by Escamillo ("Carmen") and Stern ("Anna Nicole") in 2019/20. During the 2020/21 season, he performed Figaro in the new production of "Il barbiere di Siviglia", Count Almaviva in "Le nozze di Figaro", as well as Marco in "Gianni Schicchi" and Albert in "Werther".
This season, he graces the Wiesbaden stage as Peter Besenbinder in "Hänsel und Gretel", Marullo in "Rigoletto", Don Fernando in "Fidelio", Gamekeeper / Hunter in "Rusalka", Crake in the world premiere of Søren Nils Eichberg's "Oryx and Crake", and Alexandr Petrovič Gorjančikov in Janáček's "From the House of the Dead".
