Piero Pretti

Piero Pretti started his artistic career with a long European tournée in 2006, performing in La bohème as Rodolfo. Following this, he interpreted Alfredo in La traviata at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi and at the Teatro Comunale in Treviso, the title role in Poliuto in Sassari, Manrico in Il trovatore in Ravenna, and Achille in Iphigénie en Aulide staged at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and conducted by Riccardo Muti.

The 2011 and 2012 seasons marked a decisive turning point in his career as a tenor, with performances in: I vespri siciliani, Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermoor and La traviata at the Teatro Regio in Turin, I vespri siciliani at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, a concert of Verdi arias conducted by Riccardo Muti for the Ravenna Festival, the Verdi Requiem in Kazan, Luisa Miller and Rigoletto at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and at the Teatro Regio in Parma, I due Foscari at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Madama Butterfly at the New Zealand Opera in Auckland, Un ballo in maschera at La Scala, Il trovatore for NTR ZaterdagMatinee in Amsterdam, La traviata at La Fenice, Rigoletto at the Teatro Regio in Turin, and the Rossini Stabat Mater and the Verdi Requiem conducted by Gianandrea Noseda in Tokyo. His 2014 season opened with Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro alla Scala, followed by: Rigoletto and La traviata at the Wiener Staatsoper, Rigoletto at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Münich, the Royal Opera House in London and at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, I vespri siciliani at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Nabucco at Les Chorégies d’Orange, the Rossini Stabat Mater at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, and Lucia di Lammermoor for the Fondazione Arena at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. Subsequent engagements over the following years included Madama Butterfly in Bilbao and Vienna, Lucia di Lammermoor at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Muscat, Turin and Paris, La traviata at La Fenice and at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Nabucco at the Arena di Verona, Madama Butterfly at the Opéra de Paris, Rigoletto at the Teatro Real in Madrid and at La Scala, La bohème at the Wiener Staatsoper, La donna serpente in Turin, Il trovatore in Macerata, Rigoletto in Rome and Naples, Anna Bolena in Milan, Madama Butterfly in Münich and Berlin, La traviata in Venice, Macbeth in Turin and Edinburgh, Il trovatore in Frankfurt, Un ballo in maschera in Vienna and Paris, La bohème in Madrid, and Lucia di Lammermoor in Trieste, Il pirata in Milan, Il trovatore in Florence, Seville and Madrid, Rigoletto, Nabucco and Lucia di Lammermoor in Münich, Madama Butterfly in Zürich, Werther in Venice, and Aida in Paris.

Since 2020, Piero Pretti’s calendar has included other significant milestones, the most noteworthy being his participation in the Donizetti Requiem at the Monumental Cemetery in Bergamo to commemorate victims of Covid, Ariadne auf Naxos at the Festival della Valle d’Itria, Ernani at the Festival Verdi in Parma and Il trovatore at La Fenice. Four Verdi operas stand out in his 2021 season: La Traviata at the Teatro di San Carlo, Il Trovatore at the Opera di Roma, Un ballo in maschera at the Parma Festival Verdi and Rigoletto at the Teatro del Maggio in Florence. More Verdi followed in 2022, with I vespri siciliani at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Rigoletto at La Scala, Simon Boccanegra at the Parma Festival Verdi, and the Requiem with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Fabio Luisi. That same year he performed in Norma conducted by Michele Mariotti at the Concertgebouw.
His 2023 engagements include I vespri siciliani at Teatro alla Scala, Ernani at La Fenice and at the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia, I lombardi alla prima crociata with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, La Traviata at La Fenice, Don Carlo in Piacenza and Turandot at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
