What would I risk my life for? How can I stand up for love and freedom? In Beethoven's opera, Leonore has to face these existential questions. Evelyn Herlitzius has embodied the role of Leonore all over the world. With "Fidelio", she made her directorial debut at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, telling the story of political prisoner Florestan and his liberator Leonore as an exploration of the people behind the heroism. Leonore is sung by Flurina Stucki, who most recently interpreted this role with great success at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
