Born in Ireland, Aaron Cawley studied in Dublin and sang the roles of Lysander (Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”), Turiddu (“Cavalleria rusticana”) and Malcolm (“Macbeth”) for NI Opera in Belfast. He has been a member of the Wiesbaden Ensemble since 20114/15, where he has sung roles such as Candide, Flavio ("Norma)", Cassio (“Otello”), Tichon (“Katya Kabanova”), Pinkerton (“Madama Butterfly”), Rodolfo ("La Bohème"), Cavaradossi ("Tosca"), Alfred ("Die Fledermaus"), Gastone ("La Traviata"), Froh ("Das Rheingold"), the Youth ("Die Frau ohne Schatten"), Pastor Adams ("Peter Grimes"), and First Armoured Man ("Die Zauberflöte"), as well as Lenski in the exchange production of "Eugene Onegin" at Staatstheater Darmstadt. During the 2018/19 season – in addition to reprising his roles as Lenski, Walther von der Vogelweide and Pinkerton – he also made role debuts as Riccardo in "Un ballo in maschera" and Števa Buryja in "Jenufa". His roles during the 2019/20 season included Don José in "Carmen" and Italian Singer in "Der Rosenkavalier". In 2020/21 he sang Sergei in the new production of "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District", as well as Luigi in Puccini's "Il trittico". This season, his roles include Hermann in "Pique Dame" and Manrico in "Il trovatore".
