Born in Belgium, Thomas Blondelle studied singing in Bruges, followed by first engagements in Luxemburg, Antwerp, Braunschweig and Toulon. He has been an ensemble member at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin since 2009, singing roles such as Tamino (“Die Zauberflöte”), Walther (“Tannhäuser”), Prince (“The Love for Three Oranges”), Pelléas (“Pelléas et Mélisande”), Male Chorus (“Rape of Lucretia) and Uncle/Stranger in the world premiere of Aribert Reimanns "L’Invisible". Other notable appearances include Erik (“Der fliegende Holländer”) in Strasbourg and Stuttgart, his first Drum Major (“Wozzeck”) in Glasgow and Max (“Der Freischütz”) in Stuttgart. He sang Herod ("Salome") in Luxembourg in 2016 and Belmonte at the Oper Frankfurt in 2017. Previous performances in Wiesbaden include the Count in "Der Graf von Luxemburg", Erik ("Der fliegende Holländer"), Lenski ("Eugene Onegin"), Loge ("Das Rheingold"), Belmonte ("Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), Don José ("Carmen"), Matteo ("Arabella"), as well as the title roles in "Candide", "Idomeneo" and "La clemenza di Tito". This season, he returns to Wiesbaden to sing Tassilo Endrödy-Wittemburg in the new production of "Gräfin Mariza", as well as Erik in the revival of "Der fliegende Holländer".
