At the origin of European theatre is the chorus: not soloists, but a chorus formed from parts of the community that reassures itself by speaking, singing and dancing together. For "Das Schattenkabinett", Bernd Freytag and Mark Polscher will put together a choir consisting of citizens of Wiesbaden. In a sense, this citizen's choir represents a shadow cabinet, one which does not actively exercise its power but fantasises about taking on governmental responsibility.

Bernd Freytag was a long-time collaborator of Einar Schleef – as chorus member, chorus master, and assistant director – and worked as chorus master as part of Volker Lösch's team for over a decade. He is a writer of plays, poetry and novels.

Composer and musician Mark Polscher studied with Joe Mubare and Karlheinz Stockhausen. His catalogue of works includes orchestral and choral works, music theatre as well as chamber music, purely electronic works and sound installations.

Most recently, Freytag and Polscher collaborated on Elfriede Jelinek's "Wolken.Heim." and Heinz R. Unger's "Proletenpassion" at Schauspiel Essen.
