Benjamin Russell

Irish baritone Benjamin Russell received his vocal training at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin and at the Opera Studio in Zurich. He was a prize-winner at the 's-Hertogenbosch Competition and the Veronica Dunne Competition. He has been a member of the Wiesbaden ensemble since 2014, where he has appeared in roles such as Schaunard ("La Bohème"), Swallow ("Peter Grimes"), Figaro and Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro"), Wolfram von Eschenbach ("Tannhäuser"), Masetto ("Don Giovanni"), Sharpless ("Madama Butterfly") and Figaro ("Il barbiere di Siviglia"). Further highlights include the leading role in the world premiere of "Oryx and Crake", Don Fernando in "Fidelio" and Prince Jeletzki in "Pique Dame", among others. This season, he graces the Wiesbaden stage as Papageno ("Die Zauberflöte") and Wolfram von Eschenbach ("Tannhäuser").
