Darcy Carroll

Bass-baritone Darcy Carroll hails from Melbourne, Australia. He studied at the University of Melbourne, where he completed his Master's degree in opera singing. In 2021 he was the winner of the German-Australian Opera Grant and a finalist in the Herald Sun Aria Competition. He is currently an Associate Artist in Opera Melbourne's Richard Divall Emerging Artists Programme. Recent performances include Viscount Cascada in "The Merry Widow", Count Ceprano in "Rigoletto" and Hermann Ortel in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" at Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Polyphemus in "Acis and Galatea", Guglielmo in "Così fan tutte" at iOpera and Donner in "Das Rheingold" at Melbourne Opera. In Wiesbaden this season he can also be heard as Dr Kolenatý in "The Makropulos Affair" and Moralès in "Carmen". His roles during the 2023/24 season include Samiel in "Der Freischütz", Montano in "Otello" and Pistola in "Falstaff".
