Maria Dehler

The young mezzo-soprano from Hof gained her first stage experience at a young age in the Hof Theatre through the children's and youth choir of the Hof Symphony Orchestra Music School. She received her first singing lessons at the age of 13. From 2012, Maria Dehler studied at the Mainz University of Music, initially as a soprano with Hans-Christoph Begemann, later changing fach to mezzo-soprano/alto and studying with Prof Andreas Karasiak.

As a student, she appeared in numerous productions and sang the title role in Benjamin Britten's "The Little Sweep", Barbarina in "Le nozze di Figaro" and Serpetta in Mozart's "La finta Giardiniera". She has worked with directors such as Peer Boysen, Sandra Leupold and Claudia Isabel Martin. In 2013, she made her debut in Pallavicino's "La Gerusalemme liberata" at the Staatstheater Mainz. Further engagements took her to the Thüringer Landestheater Rudolstadt in 2016 as Marcellina in Rossini's "Il barbiere di Siviglia", where she also appeared as Mother Goose in Stravinsky's "The Rakes Progress" in 2018 under the direction of Christiane Lutz.

In 2018, she made her debut at Staatstheater Wiesbaden as Lehrbube in Wagner's "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", and appeared as Glaša in Janáček's "Katja Kabanowa" and Princess Nicoletta in Prokofiev's "The Love for Three Oranges" at Staatstheater Mainz. She also made her debut as a stand-in in the role of Glaša at the Hamburg State Opera in 2019. In 2022, she returned to the Wiesbaden State Theatre both in the chorus and as a soloist, appearing in Jörg Widmann's "Babylon", in the revival of "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg", in the musical "Cabaret" and in Lehár's operetta "Die lustige Witwe", among others.
