Margarete Joswig

Margarete Joswig studied in Frankfurt and was an ensemble member of the State Opera companies of Saarbrücken and Stuttgart between 1994 and 2003. She has performed in Palermo, Rome, Naples (Walküre in the “Ring” cycle), at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris (with Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde”), the Rheingau Music Festival (Verdi’s Requiem) and the Art Festival in Weimar (Eisler’s “German Symphony”), amongst others. In 2003 she sang Flosshilde in the “Ring” cycle at Stuttgart State Opera, a production which was broadcast live on television. Previous roles in Wiesbaden include Mother in "Hänsel und Gretel", Fricka in Wagner's Ring Cycle, as well as Waltraute, First Norn in "Götterdämmerung" and Magdalena in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg". In 2019/2020, she sang the role of Virgie in "Anna Nicole". This season, she returns to the Wiesbaden stage as Brangäne in "Tristan und Isolde".
