American baritone Christopher Bolduc studied in New York and Philadelphia, after which guest engagements took him to some of the most important opera houses in Europe and North America. He sang Ramiro ("L'heure espagnole") at the Glyndebourne Festival, Guglielmo ("Così fan tutte"), Count Almaviva ("Le nozze di Figaro") and the Hunter (Heinz Holliger's "Schneewittchen") in Basel, as well as Belcore ("L'elisir d'amore") in Cologne, amongst others. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the world premiere of Nico Muhly’s “Two Boys” in 2013/14. He sang the title role in Monteverdi's "Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria" in Lausanne and debuted as Billy Budd at the Prague National Theatre during the 2017/18 season. Further guests engagements include Belcore at Theater St. Gallen, as well as Marcello ("La Bohème") at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Role debuts in Wiesbaden include Figaro ("Il barbiere di Siviglia") and Eugene Onegin, as well as Guglielmo, Belcore, Sharpless ("Madama Butterfly"), Papageno ("Die Zauberflöte") and Count Almaviva. During the 2017/18 season, he made his role debuts as Lescaut ("Manon"), Wolfram ("Tannhäuser") and Don Giovanni, followed by Escamillo ("Carmen") and Stern ("Anna Nicole") in 2019/20. During the 2020/21 season, he sang Albert in "Werther", as well as Marco, Don Giovanni, Papageno and Guglielmo. During the 2022/23 season, he received great acclaim for his portrayal of Crake in the world premiere of "Oryx and Crake", as well as Alexander Petrovich Goryantschikoffin Janáček's "From the House of the Dead". His current roles include Papageno, Count Almaviva, Ping in "Turandot", Ottokar in "Der Freischütz" and Peter Besenbinder in "Hänsel und Gretel".
