Australian soprano Sharon Kempton studied in Melbourne before heading to Europe as a scholarship holder of the German Australian Opera Grant. She was a permanent ensemble member at Staatstheater Wiesbaden until 2014, where her roles included Rosina (“Il barbiere di Siviglia”), Marie (“The Bartered Bride”), Elisabeth Zimmer (Henze’s “Eliegie für junge Liebende”), Eternita/Guinone (Cavalli’s “La Calisto”) and Valencienne (“The Merry Widow”). She made a guest appearance as Fiordiligi ("Così fan tutte") at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. Other important roles in Wiesbaden include Countess de la Roche ("Die Soldaten"), Rosalinde ("Die Fledermaus"), Gerhilde ("Die Walküre"), First Lady ("Die Zauberflöte"), Leitmetzerin ("Der Rosenkavalier") and Gertrud ("Hänsel und Gretel").

This season, she returns to Wiesbaden as Heidi Schiller in a new production of the musical "Follies".
