"gerade NOW!" brings together two unique choreographies: "Midnight Raga" by Marco Goecke and "Of Prophets and Puppets" by Martin Harriague, both displaying the incredible depth and power which contemporary dance has to offer.

Music is not normally the starting point of Marco Goecke's work. But his duet "Midnight Raga", which takes its title from Indian music, takes a different approach: the music by Ravi Shankar forms the foundation of the piece. Yet despite the oriental influences, which are also echoed in the heavy blue silk costumes, Goecke's own movement language remains unmistakable.

In an eclectic mix of dance, drama and puppetry, French choreographer Martin Harriague explores themes of power, manipulation and the influence of the media in "Of Prophets and Puppets". Taking the format of a talk show, the piece illustrates how humans rob themselves of their own authenticity, turning into easily manipulated puppets on strings. Harriague uses choreography and dance theatre to stage a fictional encounter between two iconic figures: Greta Thunberg and Donald Trump.
